Description

Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of "ordinary" people who work together to achieve extraordinary results.

Each day we stand in solidarity with - and help protect - individuals and communities around the world whose human rights are under attack.

We appeal for the violations to stop. We mobilize public pressure to prevent human rights abuses from taking place.

Amnesty International is urging the hosts to address the truth about the country's human rights record, and to release all Prisoners of Conscience held since last spring following anti government protests.

Amnesty International's END FGM European Campaign created this video to represent the 42,000 signatures of supporters who signed rose petals to demand European leaders to act!
In Europe, 500,000 women and girls are living with FGM and another 180,000 girls are at risk each year!

While laws exist in various countries, girls are still at risk, women living with FGM are still not receiving the same level of protection across Europe. The EU can end this human rights violation!

Find out more at www.endfgm.eu.

More than 12 million people live in Egypt's sprawling informal settlements (slums). Over the years, the authorities have treated these people with contempt, subjected them to unlawful forced evictions and threatened them with arbitrary arrest under repressive emergency legislation if they dared to protest.

The dramatic political changes that have happened since 25 January 2011 offer the new Egyptian authorities an historic opportunity to genuinely consult slum-dwellers about their housing, and to work with them to create a brighter and safer future.

The Russian authorities have made little attempt to effectively investigate possible involvement by local officials in the July 2009 murder of the prominent human rights advocate Natalia Estemirova.

Every year, tens of thousands of people leave their homes in Central America and journey north through Mexico as irregular migrants. Driven by grinding poverty back home, they travel in hope of reaching the USA with its promise of work and a new life. But all too often their dreams are turned to nightmares as they brave one of the most dangerous journeys in the world.

Excluded from mainstream society and effectively denied the protection of the law, they are condemned to a life on the margins.

Thousands fall victim to beatings, abduction, rape or even murder by criminal gangs and some public officials. Their lives and deaths are largely invisible. Many of their stories will never be told.

These abuses must no longer be tolerated in Mexico.
